Embrace vs Figo
Embrace wins for most buyers on score, pre-existing handling and extras: 8.8 against Figo at 7.9 for dogs (8.7 vs 8.0 for cats), the curable pre-existing path after 12 clean months, a deductible that drops $50 per claim-free year, and a wellness allowance covering even grooming and nutrition consults. Figo fights back with the only 100% reimbursement tier we track (paired with a $500 or $750 deductible, not combinable with its unlimited plan), a 24-hour accident start against Embrace’s immediate-but-orthopedically-held design, and an unlimited-limit Higher Coverage plan. Illustrative prices run about $41/mo for Embrace versus $40/mo for a dog, and $22 vs $23 for a cat.

Pre-existing conditions
Embrace: Curable pre-existing conditions (like an old ear infection or a one-off bout of vomiting) can be re-evaluated and covered again after 12 consecutive symptom-free, treatment-free months. Chronic conditions (diabetes, ongoing allergies, chronic orthopedic issues) stay excluded for good. Few competitors distinguish curable from chronic this explicitly.
Figo: Not covered, standard exclusion for signs shown before enrollment or during the waiting period.
Choose Embrace if
Your pet has curable conditions in its history (re-covered after 12 consecutive symptom-free months), you claim rarely (the Healthy Pet Deductible falls $50 per claim-free year), or you want the broadest wellness allowance ($250 or $450 a year including grooming and nutrition consults). Accept the 6-month orthopedic wait unless an exam lands in your first two weeks.
Choose Figo if
You want the highest reimbursement rate or fastest accident cover: Figo’s 100% tier is unique in our lineup, and accident coverage starts after just 24 hours. Its Higher Coverage plan has no annual limit, though 100% reimbursement cannot combine with it, and the Popular plan caps at $10,000. The 6-month orthopedic wait is waivable with an exam inside the enrollment window; service runs through the Pet Cloud app.
