It sells the widest menu of annual limits in our catalog ($2,500 up to unlimited) and applies no separate orthopedic or cruciate waiting period beyond the standard 14-day illness wait. What the price buys
Spot offers annual deductibles from $100 to $1,000, 70/80/90% reimbursement, and more annual-limit combinations than any other insurer we review, from $2,500 all the way to unlimited. Ask for a current quote using the coverage choices you would actually buy.
The waiting-period fine print is unusually clean. Accident and illness coverage both start after 14 days (next-day accident cover in select states), and unlike most competitors there is no separate 6-month hold on cruciate ligament injuries or hip dysplasia. Optional preventive-care coverage can be added at enrollment or at renewal.
When Spot is the better pick
Owners who want control over the ceiling rather than a one-size cap: Spot is the easiest place to buy exactly as much limit as you need. Also a strong fit if you are enrolling a breed with orthopedic risk (French Bulldogs, Dachshunds, Labradors) and want cruciate and hip coverage starting at 14 days rather than sitting out a 6-month orthopedic wait.
When a competitor wins instead
If either knee has already been injured, be careful: Spot links both knees, so a prior injury on one side excludes the other side too.
