Short answer

Yes, with a chronic-condition caveat. A newly diagnosed allergy claims under Lemonade’s illness terms once the 14-day waiting period passes. But insurers including Lemonade treat ongoing allergies as a chronic condition: once documented before enrollment or during the wait, they stay excluded for life, and later flare-ups attributed to them can be denied.

A first-time allergy workup (exam, possible testing, medications or special diets prescribed for a covered diagnosis) claims under standard terms after the 14-day illness wait; official Lemonade accidents start at 0 days nationwide. Deductibles run $100 to $750 with 70/80/90% reimbursement.

The pre-existing rule is where most allergy claims fail: itching or ear trouble noted by a vet before enrollment becomes the excluded condition, and future infections linked to it follow that exclusion rather than claiming separately.

Why allergies never become curable

Lemonade’s curable-condition path in most states re-covers conditions like ear infections after 12 clean months, but chronic conditions such as ongoing allergies are explicitly outside it in our review data. Manage expectations accordingly: enroll between flare-ups, and expect one documented allergy to shape claims for the policy’s life.
