How does the Healthy Paws deductible work?
Lemonade Pet is not sold in every state.
Healthy Paws uses one annual deductible chosen at enrollment: $100, $250, $500 or $1,000. You pay it once each policy year before reimbursement starts, and it resets on your renewal date. Unlike Trupanion’s design, there is no per-condition option: the same single deductible applies to every claim in the year.

Lemonade is the one insurer on this site we can send you to for a live quote. That does not make it the right plan for every pet. As of October 2, 2026, Lemonade Pet is not yet available in Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wyoming.

Choosing and meeting the deductible
You pick one of four amounts at enrollment ($100 to $1,000) together with a 70, 80 or 90% reimbursement rate and an annual limit of $5,000, $7,000 or unlimited. Every eligible claim draws down the same annual deductible.
Once it is met, Healthy Paws reimburses at your chosen rate for the rest of the policy year, up to your limit. The unlimited option is what most owners pick it for, per our review.
Why the single annual design matters
A single annual deductible favors pets with multiple small claims in one year: meet it once and everything after reimburses. Per-condition designs such as Trupanion’s instead charge once per diagnosed condition for life, which suits one chronic condition spread across many years.
Note that changing your coverage later works only one way per our review data: options narrow once claims are on file.
